The Ernakulam South police on Thursday inspected a skin and hair transplant clinic at Panampilly Nagar where a man who had undergone hair transplant had lodged a complaint about serious health hazard caused by bacterial infection of his skull following the procedure.
The police had registered a case and booked the owner of the clinic and two others. The accused are Dr. Sarathkumar, 45, of Insight Derma Clinic, Gokul, 40, of the same clinic, and another unidentified woman.
The clinic has remained closed since the man lodged a police complaint. The police broke into the clinic and reportedly seized evidence. The accused are absconding.
According to the first information report (FIR), the petitioner who had undergone hair transplant from February 26 was treated carelessly, apathetically, and in unhygienic conditions. The petitioner developed bacterial infection in the transplanted area leading to the loss of skin exposing the skull, thus leaving him a serious condition, said the FIR.
The accused have been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 125 (the act of endangering life or personal safety of others), 125 (a) and 125(b).
