Erode Corporation has invited organisers of exhibitions, trade fairs, and book fairs to make use of a three-acre vacant land available for rent near the satellite bus stand at Solar.
The civic body owns 51.75 acres along Karur Road in Solar. Currently, work is nearing completion on establishing a satellite bus stand on 12.35 acres, while construction has commenced for an integrated vegetable and grocery market for over 12.49 acres. The Corporation has also received requests for the allotment of seven acres for a stadium and five acres for an IT park. After accounting for these projects, 8.82 acres remain vacant, of which three acres have been earmarked for rental use by the public.
In a release, Corporation Commissioner (in-charge) and Deputy Commissioner K. Dhanalakshmi stated that the land could be used for hosting small-scale private exhibitions, trade fairs, musical concerts, political public meetings, party conventions, circuses, book fairs, food festivals, and commercial events on a daily rental basis. The decision had been approved by the council, and organisers and event contractors were encouraged to use the opportunity.
Details regarding daily rental charges can be obtained in person from the Revenue Section at the Corporation’s central office during working days.
